I arrived back in VA and started my drive back to BV complete with many renditions of The Greatest Showman.
I got home pretty late and walked into a literal ice box. One of my housemates turned the heat off before she left...and with seriously low temperatures (like 5 degrees), my house was FREEZING. And that is an understatement. I turned on the heat and nothing happened. I knew that the pipes were frozen. I texted my landlady and the Rasmussen's who kindly took me in for the night!
I was completely flustered, but I was so grateful for my VA family. I adore those Rasmussen's!
The next morning my landlady and her husband drove down and I met them at the house. The heat was slowly turning on, but none of the water was working. We got hairdryers and started to thaw out one of the main pipes and everything was going smooth until....BURST! Nancy went down stairs and a pipe was gushing water. The basement was flooded....
I spent the rest of Sunday mopping up water and trying to stay calm. I am so grateful that Nancy was here though! Again, so grateful that the Rasmussen's basically just made me their 5th child!
Also I loved this. I looked up at the fan in the room I was staying in and found this cute surprise!
Monday I needed to keep cleaning up the house, but the Rasmussen kids wanted to join. So after helping them with their school work they came and played games at my house. It was so fun laughing with them! They are truly gifts!
I decided to sleep at my house Monday night because I missed my bed, and Alayna had gotten home. I went back for dinner though and we watched Toy Story 2. Then I found out people were up in the Stoddard Center watching the college football game. I walked in and we now have a massive screen!! What?! It was so fun to see everyone! I love people.
Tuesday I went to work and just hung out. That night Alayna asked if I would leave at like 3am to go to DC to pick up Chalae. So we decided to order some pizza! YUM!
3am Wednesday off we went! It was quite the crazy adventure! We stopped close to the airport for donuts and hot chocolate and we laughed, slept, and talked and talked.
Friday I was just lying on my couch talking with Emma, Andrew, Sarah, and Alayna. I got this call from Ashley and she said "Come with us to the Volleyball Scrimmage in Harrisonburg. We have to leave right now." So I loaded up my car and we met Ashley, Jess, Cody, Boston, and Chalae in Harrisonburg. It took us like 40 minutes to find the right building once we were on campus. #smallcampusproblems. We could not stop laughing! Who has 4 gyms?! What the heck! Once we finally found it there was only one set left. But we cheered our hearts out! HAHA!
Saturday around noon a group of us headed to the temple. Again, some great renditions of The Greatest Showman took place. We had such a fun time! We ran into a lot of SVU people once in the temple too. I love the temple. What a blessing to feel peace and unity. I love sitting in the temple and looking around at all my friends who are there with me. Its truly beautiful!
