After a CRAZY year I most definitely needed summer.
I adored being back home.
I needed every crazy joke from Will, every sassy comment from Camille, the hugs from my parents, and every episode of Flash. Maybe even the dog...
I needed the summer to honestly remember who I was and what I wanted. It was a time to rebuild myself. So yes. I was super super lazy. But I needed it. I LOVE YOU FAMILY!
Here is a little video of my much needed July in Utah!
I wrote a children's book all in Spanish about a bear named Carl who had a dream to live in the city.
It will probably win all the book awards of 2016
I had a little injury involving a fan and my hand.
Can you see how big the bump on my middle finger is?
Kaylee and I went to this cute restaurant called Pure Eats. We ordered their Black Raspberry shake and I also got one of their homemade donuts. Delicious!
Tuesday was a great day.
I FINISHED SPANISH FOREVER!
The rest of the day was full of packing and Gilmore Girls.
7pm hit and we both remembered that there was indeed a Relief Society Activity. So I waited for my wash to dry because my yoga pants were in there and I couldn't go do yoga without my yoga pants. That would be a insane!
I can't move my body after yoga. But it felt wonderful! I think the RA's need to have like weekly yoga next semester. Its so relaxing!
It was so nice outside that I walked to the activity. Afterwords Jessica told me to walk to her house and she would give me a ride home. Well on our walk we noticed all the beautiful fireflies. It was a perfect night so we decided to go walk the flood wall because we both had heard how many fireflies are there. This is a 5 mile walk. We started at 8:30pm and didn't get back till almost 11pm because we sat and talked! It was so fun and soo pretty!
Here's the catch.
Kaylee and I had to checkout of our house at 8am so I could drive Kaylee to the Roanoke airport.
You can imagine the frantic packing and cleaning that ensued the next morning.
I am staying with Brady and Stephanie up in the Lofts for the week. I am so grateful for them! Wednesday we watched Gilmore Girls and they made onion rings, fries and chicken for dinner.
Thursday had the most perfect weather. It was not hot but just right. I grabbed my book and sat on my rocking chairs in front of main hall and just read. Then I walked to Amish Cupboard for a delicious sandwich and then read some more.
Brady then texted me saying that dinner was cooking. We had homemade chicken burgers, corn on the cob, and potatoes. It was delicious! Then we watched Tomorrowland. I loved that movie!
Beautiful VA!
Friday I had an interview for a job in the Fall. Its at a Montessori School. They have a path that winds through a gorgeous creek and so I took a little adventure.
Always remember that Life is beautiful.
Saturday I went to the drive in with John John and his sisters. We were all pretty tired but it was fun! Sunday was a bitter sweet day. Church was great but as the day flew by it meant that I was leaving to come home which meant that I had to say goodbye to an amazing person. My plan was to leave BV by 6. I texted Jessica because I was going to stop by and visit her to say bye. Well... 8pm hit and 3 hours later of talking I finally got up the courage to give her a hug and say goodbye. She is amazing and I have learned so much from her. She is going to do amazing things in Florida!
It was a crazy few months staying here in VA. But I needed it. I was able to build some great friendships and learn a lot about me. I was able to strengthen and rebuild myself in ways that needed to happen with the people and experiences here. What a blessing!
This weird thing happened this week where all the sudden Summer became a thing.
Monday for FHE they gave us this list of crazy things to go to. The theme was to be unashamed. So we went Christmas Caroling at a professors house, we went and asked store workers strange questions as well as customers. There were some grass angels made and some fake proposals. It was pretty great!
After FHE Kaylee and I went and watched the end of a movie at Brigham's House. It was fun to watch it and then sit and talk for a bit!
Tuesday Kaylee and I opened our front door and sat down while watching the rain come pouring down. It was magical.
Wednesday was still kind of cloudy but Jessica, Rebecca, and Sam all came over and swam in my pool. After about 2 hours Jessica and I were starving. So we went and ordered pizza! It was delicious!
Thursday at about 4:45am a giant Thunder Clap and lightening struck! It was so loud and it didn't really stopped all day. It was the coolest thing ever!
Our Relief Society also had a frock swap. This is where you bring old clothes or anything really and you just exchange it and take what you like. I got an adorable dress, jacket, and a book!
Jessica and I decided we really wanted to go see Finding Dory so we went to the drive in. Well... it was closed. So we headed to the Lexington Movie Theater. It was 7:53 and outside it said that there was a showing at 7:40. Perfect. With previews we wouldn't really miss anything. So we ran in and they informed us that there was only a showing that started at 7:10. Somehow a manager came and gave us rain check passes to come and see Finding Dory the next day for free. My favorite comment was after we walked out when Jessica said, "Wow. Its not like we even look good today!" HAHA
Friday I went to this taste testing thing for the school which was interesting. Too much Pizza was involved.
But Jessica and I did go to Finding Dory that night! So cute! We had such a good time!
I was suppose to help clean the church Saturday morning but a youth conference was there. I showed up and helped Jessica take all the frock swap clothes to Goodwill. Then we looked up orchards where we could get peaches and strawberries. Kaylee and Jackson came with us. It was so summery and fun! (The homemade peach ice cream was amazing!)
I came back and worked on my Relief Society Lesson then headed over to Jessica's house. We used all the stuff we bought to make a yummy meal. We made homemade peach cobbler, spaghetti with this peach salsa we made, and green beans which we bought from the farm as well. Then we had this yummy white grape cider. We indulged ourselves in this delicious meal while watching Zootopia. So fun!
I love Sundays. I sat down for Sacrament Meeting and was asked if I could share my testimony on what the Savior has done for me. I said yes and I felt like my mind went blank. But then I kept thinking of the word 'Everyday'. Everyday my Savior helps me. He sends me amazing people to watch out for me, the Holy Ghost to comfort me, and the Atonement. I am so grateful for the Atonement and its enabling and healing power. What a blessing!
Then for Relief Society I got to teach a great lesson on Temples. I am so grateful for Temples and Howard W Hunter has said that we need "to establish the temple of the Lord as the great symbol of our membership". I found this great mormon message and I love the words at the very beginning.
It was a great week! Super fun and exciting!
Now I need to work on that Spanish final project....
Jessica and I watched a movie one night and sat and talked till 1am. I love her!
This was a funny little picture Camille sent me.
The best part of the week was that my Mom came on Thursday! I picked her up from the airport and we went out to dinner and then shopping.
I stayed at the hotel with her every night. I have been dying to go on a vacation so this made me feel like I was going on a little trip. A staycation.
We went and visited with Reva and Cody, ate some yummy food, went and walked around a park, went on drives, and visited with the Rasmussen Family. I went to my Mom's meeting and ate lunch with them. It was very fun to talk to my Mom a lot and just have fun!
