Midterm Week March 1-8

I honestly can't remember a ton that happened this week... haha!

Sunday was really good! We had a great testimony meeting and lessons. We also went to hymns on a hill and had a mini game night with our friend Katie, her home teachers, Savannah, Ewa and our other friend Lindee.

Monday I had Institute, microeconomics, philosophy and becoming a leader servant. I had my midterm in philosophy and I was really worried for it, but it turned out that it wasn't that bad! I did well on the first half and I still don't know the grade on the essay portion. For FHE we had a blind pictionary contest between all of the families in our ward. It was pretty funny the pictures that came about. We also came back and FaceTimed Alley.

Tuesday I had the Review meeting and my work meeting with the first shift after. Before our work meeting we went in to the dinning hall because John John was helping us make a poster. We left at like 4:58 and at 5:06 ish (I heard about this after work) Becca was down in the dinning hall and she was having chest pains. She got up to get water and then fainted. Jane who has some medical training helped her and she was given a priesthood blessing (go SVU!). She was taken in the ambulance to the hospital. She came back later that night because they couldn't find anything wrong. It was weird and it took her a few days to recover but she is doing well. Work was good and then I came back up to the Lofts and got talking to everyone up here. Savannah, Anna and I decided to go for a run. I know! It happened again!

Wednesday we had a great leadership lecture by one of our past presidents of the university, President Whitehead. He is super funny and he gave a great lesson! After lunch Ewa and I hung out in the hallways for a while just talking about life. We then had to work the double shift which was pretty good but a little slow. At the beginning of the second shift we had a Bop it competition. Its the version when it says pass it so everyone plays. It was super intense. I made it to the finals and I totally "flicked it" and it didn't "flick"! Im still bitter. After work we played two more rounds. I was in the final both times and I finally won one of those!! It was all those years playing that game at Reid's house!

After work..

Thursday there were reports of a giant snow storm suppose to be happening.. we woke up and they had pushed back every class by two hours. So we went and took our history midterm which was kind of scary but I think I did pretty well. I just wasn't 100% sure exactly what the teacher was looking for. I went to choir which we got all of the music for our next concert and it is so pretty!! I love it! Which is good because I really didn't like any of our other stuff this semester. While we were in choir the full giant snow storm hit! It was super pretty. We then went to Theatre History. She got a phone call right at the start of class and it was her husband (who is the provost) saying that all classes were canceled. This was the first time that SVU has ever canceled and shut down the school. Because they canceled school they also canceled work. That night we went to our friend Alex's senior recital. She was one of the conductors for our choir. She did such a fantastic job!!! It was so pretty.

Friday we had a good question and answer forum. We didn't get through a ton of questions though because our president loves to talk. He's the best!! We had a good rest of the day. At dinner we made a smiley face in the snow! He was cute. That night Genny, Ewa and I watched Camp Rock we then just sat and talked.

Saturday I woke up and headed down to go help remodel Jonzzeys. We are raising money for new furniture, but we were cleaning, priming the wall, and then started painting. I was there from 10-12. Took a break for lunch. And then was there from 1:30 till almost 7. Then Savannah, Ewa and I watched Kate and Leopold!

Sunday the 9am wards were combined and the 1pm wards were combined. I was had to teach one of the Gospel Doctrine classes. It actually went really well! I had a lot of discussion going on and really good feedback! It was awesome! I love when we are all combined because you get a ton of new insight. It was also finally such a pretty day outside that right after church we went to the front of main hall and then just sat there till dinner. After dinner I went on another walk and then I talked with Savannah and FaceTimed my family. Savannah and I also went to hymns on a hill.

We got some culture! Feb 23- March 1

Monday after our Leader Servant class we all go to lunch. Our tables in the dinning hall are pretty big and we have bulky chairs which don't help anything. So if you are the furthest one in you are pretty much stuck until everyone around you is done. Alex was in this position and we just told her to climb over the table. She totally did! It was funny! At dinner I also discovered how much I loved Trix cereal... It is soo good!

A little bit about Leader Servant. This class is really cool. Everyone is required to take it before they graduate. We are split into smaller classes for Monday's. We have different professors and even the Presidents wife teaches one of them. They are given a topic that relates to values that are school holds or that we should all develop. We then discuss them as a class and its fascinating! Then every Wednesday we have a Leadership Lecture. This is where someone comes to speak to us about school, graduate school, writing thank you letters, getting the most out of education, presenting yourself on social media, etc.. Then Friday we have Forum and that counts as our class. I really love it!

Saturday we were suppose to go to the closing night of Mansfield Park, but because it snowed so much it was canceled and changed to Monday. So Ewa, Savannah, Elizabeth, and Anna all went! It was soo good...Again! :) I just love it a lot! So the orchestra is on the side of the stage and at one point Brigham (who played Mr. Crawford) sits on the stage right next to John John who was playing the Bass. John John had told me that on closing night he just wanted to start rubbing Brigham's back during that scene. So our group knew it was going to happen so we looked over there, and he totally did it! We busted up laughing at Brigham's shocked face! He told us afterwards that he saw us laughing and I assured him we only noticed because we knew it was going to happen!

Tuesday we had our work meeting but I switched shifts with someone so I didn't work. It was the last JV boys basketball game so Savannah and I decided we would go. We crushed them! In the last 30 seconds all we needed was a three pointer to go over 100! Thats all we wanted, and they didn't shoot the ball! They just held it. We didn't have anything to lose, so we were all upset they didn't go for it. After that I decided that I needed to go running to relive some stress.... Yes, I know. SHOCKER! At 9 Savannah and I went to the third floor of the Lofts and ran. I just kept going. Granted I was not going super fast but I ran 1.5 miles feeling great! I was on like a high after and I didn't want to stop!
 I really wasn't that tired!

Wednesday, I had my midterm for microeconomics! That class is super hard but I feel pretty good about it. I really needed to go to the store and take people to the store but my car was one of like three that was still piled in snow and I didn't want to shovel it out.. I then worked a double shift which went pretty well.

Thursday we woke up to more snow!!! I was knocking on Ewa's door at 7:30 so we could go down to breakfast when Jane came out and asked if we got the email...? They had decided to delay all classes by two hours. But then our 8AM class teacher just canceled class, and for Theater History we were suppose to go see a Shakespeare play in Staunton but that was canceled thanks to the snow. Ewa and I decided because we were already up we might as well go to breakfast. It was super nice not being rushed. We ate and then sat in our favorite hallway for a few hours and then we ate lunch and then went to choir! It was super relaxing. Then after class I went back with Genny to the dinning hall and we sat and talked in there for a while and then we talked to John John. I told them that I was going to go up and go running. Between the both of them they didn't believe that I was going to go again, and they continued to tease me! Finally I left and yes I did! I went running AGAIN! I went a lot faster and this time I felt soo sore! I took a shower and then went down to dinner. John John was working dinner and I came in and he was being all sarcastic again so then I told him I was mad at him. He tried to get me to forgive him by giving me hug, but I told him he would have to pay me in generosity... like giving me a ride home from work later that night. So he said just to call him and he could do that. I'm really grateful for nice people! So after work I called him and we walked over to his car. We pulled up and he looked over at my car and tried to convince me that I could drive it out of the snow. I said that there was no way, because my car really doesn't like snow and the tires were completely covered in it!

Friday we had Forum given by Elder Richard G Scott's brother! He sounded just like Elder Scott! It was crazy! He talked about how to live a stress free life and living the gospel. It was great! I sat next to Nicole and Brigham which was a fun change. Ewa and I were walking back up to the Lofts and we were talking about how all we wanted was a shake. I said, "Well if someone would shovel all the snow off my car then we could totally go. If we find a shovel I could just do it". We turned the corner and there was a guy shoveling my car!!! I found out later that it was a guy from maintenance but he had sat behind me last semester in Astronomy. It was like the nicest thing ever!!! I was soo happy! So off Ewa and I went to Walmart and then to Sheetz. Oh how we love our Frozen Hot Chocolate. We came back and I studied with Elizabeth and Anna for our philosophy midterm. Then we went to dinner. After we ate we went up to change and get ready for our choir concert. The theme was Love and we sang three songs, Concert Chorale sang a few, and then their were smaller groups and soloists with two people doing funny narration. It was really fun!! There also was the cutest little boy that sang Where is Love from Oliver! It was adorable! After the concert we came back and watched High School Musical 2! (Earlier, Brigham, Ewa, and I had a high school musical sing-a-long! It was hilarious!)
It was so busy Friday at Walmart that all the carts were gone!

This was the funniest slowest car thing!

I didn't sleep very well on Friday night.. I had way to much on my brain. But I woke up to go take Anna to Walmart at about 9:30. I also needed my eyes checked and the day before they said that I could just come in and get them checked. So I went 30 minutes after the doctor was in and they told me they had to schedule an appointment and it wouldn't be until the 9th! So I might be blind for a few days :/. Then the lady that is in charge of the front place got talking to me for almost 20 minutes all about life. It was super cute! She even was showing me pictures of her new grandbaby that was born on Tuesday. We got back from Walmart and I just sat in my room and watched Gilmore Girls. Anna and I went down to lunch and then we came back up to study for philosophy again. I then had to get ready because our choir was doing a "flash mob" for Habitats for Humanity. They have this really nice banquet honoring their donors at the Robert E. Lee Hotel. We all dressed up as their waiters and then at one point we just bursted into song. We saw a lot of wine ;) and it was pretty fun and hopefully they enjoyed it. John John plays in two orchestra's outside of school. I was texting him before both of our performances and he said that we should come over to his concert after ours because his will be pretty long. It turns out that he was just performing up the road like three minutes. So off we went and parking was kind of scary and then we got there after the second half had started. We watched on the TV outside and then tried to open the door but then people just glared at us. So we listened to the next song from the door and then went in for the last of it. I loved it! They play music and you can get up and ballroom dance up front. There were so many cute couples and we just felt so cultured! They sounded amazing and I really loved it! We talked to him after and he asked if we were staying for the cookies.. well duh! So we stayed and talked for a while. At one point I just became overwhelmed with love for all of these people. I know that Heavenly Father places in our path the people that we need! I was just soo happy! We left a little while later because Alex hadn't had dinner yet. We stopped at McDonalds because we all wanted ice cream too and then their ice cream machine was broken! Sad day! I feel like this happens a lot. Then we went to Cook Out and got shakes which are super delicious! We dropped off Erika at Jonnzey's and everyone else in my car said that I could just keep driving around to the front of main hall and get out that way. We were almost to the front when there were pillars blocking our way! I hate driving backwards and I was freaking out, so Alex took over and maneuvered the car around two corners. She's skilled! We came back up and hung out in Savannah's room till like 12:30! It was super super fun and exactly what I needed!

 Genny looks like Marry Poppins!

 We LOVE ice cream!
