Where did last week go?

What a crazy week!!!

Monday, It was so cold! I was wearing four layers! My sweater, SVU sweatshirt, my grey coat, and my rain coat! I was very warm and happy! We had FHE where we played Ewa's family in heads up. My family dominated again and won. I then came back and FaceTimed Alley!

On Tuesday I again wore four layers. A sweater, cardigan, Greece sweatshirt, and my grey coat. I discovered that gloves are pretty much the greatest invention ever!

Wednesday started the string of my clumsiness. Tuesday night I was getting down to say my prayers when I hit my knee on my bed side table! I have the biggest bruise. Then I went to breakfast Wednesday morning and I ate a muffin. Well in choir I was having a mini coughing attack so I pulled up my scarf to help muffle the sound. Well then I breathed in and inhaled a piece of muffin! That made me laugh/cough and it was bad! Then I went to Institute where they had hot chocolate and apple cider mix. I burned my tongue. It was rough! I did pull out my christmas blanket with the cute penguins and snowmen! If only it had sheep on it.... :) (I did also layer again!)

Crunchy peanut butter and honey has become one of my favorite snacks!

Wednesday night I told Ewa that Sutton Foster was going to be performing in DC when I was going to be there for Thanksgiving. We freaked out and then impulse bought tickets! We can't stop mentioning it to each other! We are freaking out!!!

We then went down and watched our women's basketball team play! They did a great job.

My school also played BYU on Wednesday! They were playing it in the SAC on the blow up screen. They had oreos, popcorn, and milk and half the school was there! Every time our team scored we would scream! There was so much support and it was awesome and so much fun! We all knew we were going to lose because our team is a different division entirely, and they are all about my height whereas the BYU team were three of me! I think my favorite part was watching the team and knowing everyone on it! We all loved saying, "oh I have English with Preston!" "Joseph is the nicest kid ever!" "Look, there's Austin!" It's so great to go to a school where you know almost everyone!

Thursday was my most unproductive day. Ewa and I went to the Hills on Fire concert. It was a lot of fun! We love their music and have gone to almost every performance. They are the nicest guys and its super great. That ended at like 9:30 and I told Ewa I didn't want to go home. So we hopped in my car and drove around Buena Vista. We found ourselves on some scary street where I thought a vampire was going to attack me. (I think this came to mind because I am currently reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer for a class... Its weird). After I figured out a place to turn we decided to head to everyone's favorite place, Sheetz. It's a gas/convenient/restaurant thing. We ordered their famous frozen hot chocolate. IT WAS SOO GOOD! We were both hooked! We then drove back home but sat in the parking lot till 11:30ish. It was a much needed break, but didn't aid in the school department.

Friday we had a really good Forum by David Martino. He talked all about priorities and it was really great! At lunch they had these AMAZING chocolate cookies filled with coconut! And they were warm! They were to die for! Literally... I think I would die for them.

About 4:30 I was heading back up to the lofts. I decided to check on who ever was working the current shift at the dinning hall (because it wasn't dinner rush yet). It turned out to be my RA Merissa! So I walked in and ended up sitting by her the rest of the night! After her shift in there she had to work the game room. So we went to try and get the key for the game closet, and that was a whole experience! Then we hung out up there till about 9:30. Then walking back, this nice guy going the opposite direction of us, pulled over and asked if we wanted a ride to the lofts. It was awesome.

Ewa then came back to my room and we hung out for quite awhile!

On Saturday I went to work and then dinner. After dinner we all went to our Winter Formal. We didn't realize how "formal" it was. We were wearing dresses but definitely not as nice as everyone else! The best part was we had the VMI jazz band play live music! We felt like we were in a movie! Our favorite part was during the slow songs, Ewa, Lanie (Another amazing RA), and I would pretend we were secret agents, breaking up happy couples, or interpretive dancing. It was great.

It was a super fun week and surprisingly really fast! We are very very VERY excited for Thanksgiving this next week! I am excited to be with the Garfield's, but it is going to be weird not being with family! Hope everyone has an amazing week! (And stay off the streets because Will's driving!)

How did I become busier?

My life is a hurricane waiting to crash into land! Everything is swirling around and around causing destruction (my lack of sleep) in its wake!

On Monday I went to FHE. We played the game called Heads up, which is the best ever, against another family. We were down by 17 in the last round, but we came back to win it all! It was great!

On Tuesday, I started an internship! I don't know if everyone has heard about this, but one of my friends, Jason, was telling me that his wife works at a publishing company in town and I could probably do an internship. I went and talked to her and she got me the internship! So I have to go in every Tuesday morning to get my assignment for the week. Its the cutest building and i'm quite excited because they will let me try many different aspects dealing with editing, publishing, and marketing to see exactly what I would like to do for my job!

I also had been craving cake for days! And I finally got some! It was delicious, but I would love some cake from Grandma Lambert and Aunt Heather when I come home :)

Wednesday was the first of my three tests for the week. It was for English and I felt pretty good about it. I also went up to the practice room on the third floor of main hall and ran through audition songs for the musical. I was planning on auditioning, but I already have more then I can handle on my plate, and it would just add stress...even though I am dying to get on stage again! I don't like having this theater bug! It takes over! It was a beautiful view! And when we were practicing, the choir president for the big choir opened the door and asked if we wanted help! It was so nice! My school rocks!

Thursday I had my second test. It went well! I didn't understand my math assignment at all! What's weird is that all semester I have pretty much understood it all. Now we are doing probability, the easiest thing all semester, and I don't get it! It's strange. So I went in and she helped me do the whole assignment! This is yet another amazing thing about my school! My professors care, and I love it! After dinner we ran back home because it was freezing and we were being very dramatic up the stairs ;) I then went to work which was crazy! Because we are all losing it at school, work has become a stress relief with lots of unproductive shifts. But thats also due to the amazing amount of people who don't answer their home phones. Oh and at work I was calling someone names Julia. Well it turns out that was wrong... so I had a very embarrassing moment with Julio, a boy, not Julia!

Here is a picture someone at work drew. Sometimes we draw, or color to pass the time and this was left at the desk I was working at! It made me smile :)

Friday we had a forum where the President announced some changes that are going to happen starting now and in the near future for our University. People have been having problems with the dress code, which I think is stupid and don't get me started on that!, but it was mainly with the way it was enforced. So now the RA's are not "policing" people. We are getting a new dorm built by August which will be nice! We are now in connection with the people that do Khan Academy! (Hopefully this leads to a job for me on Khan Academy art. I spend hours watching their art history videos! Just Kidding :)) Also the SAC and arena will be opened till 2 in the morning. This is in hopes that people will stop hanging out in the Lofts till two in the morning.... but the Lofts has the TV so I don't think anything will change. There were a few more changes that will be coming too. I am so grateful for an amazing President and his wife who are still meeting with students, and trying everything they can to get us more funding and improving the over all University.

After forum and lunch (where they had homemade warm donuts! I died and went to heaven!) I had my astronomy test. I either dominated or failed... So we will see!

Yes, my tree pictures will never stop!

I came back from that test to finish the online portion of my English test. Because I had studied on Wednesday, I forgot most of the information which was not very convenient. I then drove people to Walmart where I also got my tires rotated and the pressure checked so i'm ready for Thanksgiving! When we got back we went straight to dinner and then squished 5 people in my car to go back home. Then went to Antigone, the play on campus. They did a version of the show where it is set in World War II in France. It was soo good! The characters were so strong and the lighting, set, and everything was beautiful! And so tragic! It was awesome! We then ran from that straight to the Fading Point concert. They are the A cappella band on campus. They are soo talented! I enjoyed their concert so much! It was so funny and great!

I then had every intention to go back to my room to go to bed.. (Okay watch Netflix) but I got talking to my friend in the hall. Then my RA's were dying of laughter and we proceeded to laugh for a long time! Apparently I was laughing really loud, but it was SOOO funny! The picture below gives a gist of what happened, but you just had to be there! I think I went to bed about 1am!

That wasn't the best plan because at 7am I was up and getting ready! At 8 I was down in the SAC setting up for our on campus open house. It was FREEZING! Thank goodness for my big nice coat and the gloves I bought! I directed traffic for half an hour and then got to talk to students. I wasn't in charge of a specific group I was a director. So I got to walk around and make sure everything was going well. At one point the students went to a 20 minute class, so all the student guides and directors got to hang out. So we played Heads Up again and it was hilarious! We then made this walkway for the students to make sure they got to the right place and we were crazy, im sure most of those students we scared off! I joined Ewa's group after a little while and we went and had lunch. It was packed! No SVU student had room to come in. It was crazy! I then headed to work for the craziest shift! Most of us had worked the open house, so we were exhausted! I kept inviting people to a firehouse instead of fireside. It was nuts!

I also got a fancy badge... but they took it back before I got a picture!

Saturday after work we had a hilarious and entertaining dinner (I think its because everyone was laughing at me because I was so out of it!). We then went to the Shenanigans show! They are our improve group on campus, and I don't think I have ever laughed that hard! My stomach hurt after the first "skit" was done! It was sooo great!

Sunday I woke up to finish homework and then went to church. We had a wonderful Sunday! Our bishop spoke about Enduring to the end (or finals!). It was so good!

It was a crazy week, and Im so happy its over! As of today (11/18) I only have 10 class days left of my first semester in college! What in the world! This is crazy!!!

Week 11! The Home Stretch begins.

On Monday, for FHE we played the awkward game. Everyone writes some sentences on pieces of paper that could be awkward. Then two people stand up, toe to toe, and they read the papers without laughing. You can smile, but not laugh! Yay... I was better then I thought, but still lost miserably! I actually lost because I responded to the sentence the other person said, and everyone laughed at my response! I love FHE!

On Tuesday, I just had my work meeting where I heard the best joke from our boss. (He gives us like 20 jokes every Tuesday). DAD and WILL remind me to tell you the joke!!!! I forgot to tell you yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh And I think this was the day I woke up sick.... :/ ugh.

On Wednesday, it was a beautiful day outside :). I also needed to relax so I went on a search for a piano. We have piano's all over campus but it was a struggle. I wanted to go play at the piano on the 3rd floor of Main Hall. It overlooks the campus and its very pretty! I headed that way and heard a flute coming from that room. I still walked to the 3rd floor, just to walk all the way back down. Then I headed over to Landrum where the piano class is. Fading point (Our A ccapella group) was getting ready to go somewhere and they were blocking the door, so I just ran away! I ended up going for a walk around the loop that I made for myself and was about to give up, when I headed toward the Institute building. I found an empty room and played the piano! It was a much needed 20 minutes.

On Thursday, Our volleyball team made it to the semifinal round of some high up competition. This was the first time our school got to host the event, because our team is awesome! We were tied with them pretty much the whole game! It was neck and neck! But we lost.... It was so sad! I realized that I love watching volleyball though. One of the highlights of going to any sporting event on campus is that the missionaries bring otterpops! Even if its cold outside. All the students look forward to it! In the picture its Me, Ewa, Genny, and Alex!

On Friday, It was Rebekah's birthday. Anna got everyone to right a note and quotes and she decorated Rebekah's door. Our Friday Forum was by Scott Watterson co-founder of ION Health and Fitness. He taught us the importance of decision making and how Christ and Heavenly Father need to be the people we go through. To prove this he had us all think of a question we wanted an answer. We then were handed a fortune cookie and he said that what ever fortune we got was our answer. Some people's matched exactly! Mine sort of worked.. but not the best. He told us that he was worried that with all the technology we as humans, were starting to make decisions in the poorest of ways! It was really good! I think I say that every week, but they really are such a blessing and are a good weekly check in.

After Astronomy I just came back to my room and crashed. My sickness had gotten the better of me. I went to dinner by my self. On a side note, I hate eating dinner at 5 and having it be pitch black outside! At 9:30 I went to the first "Knight Sounds". It was another musical event where Ewa and the schools band, Hills on Fire, performed. There is so much talent! It was great!

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to go to the President's house. Our new President and his Wife have been inviting groups of people to come talk about our school. People could bring complaints, and concerns or ideas to improve Southern Virginia University. Ewa, Elizabeth and I signed up for Saturday and we went. Their house is a gorgeous white victorian house. (That was the main reason I wanted to go, to see the inside of their house ;) Just kidding!) I agreed with some points brought up, but disagreed with a lot. They fed us bagels, juice, fruit, and donuts. There were a ton left, so I said I was going to work (everyone else was going to the football game), so I took the rest of the donuts and some bagels. Everyone's reactions when I offered them some food at work were so great! We streamed the football game at work, and it was the first game we have won all year! Wohoo!

After work I enjoyed talking to Grandma and Grandpa Lambert! I had dinner and then went home. I should have gotten some work done, yay that didn't happen. Then at 8:30 we had a party in my room! Our plan was to play bannangrams and watch a movie. We ended up talking till 11 and then starting Princess Diaries 2! It was so funny because we all love that movie, so we were yelling and quoting and singing till 1:30 in the morning! So great! I think we all needed the break.

On Sunday we had a great sacrament meeting. Elizabeth gave a talk! That was good. I FaceTimed my family and talked to Grandma and Grandpa D. I love Sunday's!

This is the beginning of the final stretch of the semester! I am so stressed and I have 3 tests this coming week. But Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I am so grateful for the Christmas break that is just 31 days away!!!!!! :)! Saying that, I have learned that loving everyday is important. I sometimes make everyone at dinner say one good thing that happened that day, because the stress and negativity is polluting campus!

I hope you have a good week! Good luck with any stressful things you have coming up!

Week 10!

On Sunday, after church and dinner, we went on the prettiest walk around Buena Vista! (Also at dinner they have this thing called Apple Butter! Its amazing!

Monday we had a combined FHE. We played minute to win it games, which were very exciting!

Tuesday I pulled off my first Relief Society Activity! It was exciting and turned out super cute and fun! We made caramel apples, and sat and talked! The apples that we chose were soo good! Same with the caramel!

Wednesday we went to the last soccer game! It was soo cold! The teams had some amazing plays and it was 0-0 until the last 6 minutes when the other team scored! It was so sad. But it was a very pretty walk up there, and sunset. I then came back and made hot chocolate which warmed me right up!

Thursday was crazy! Some of us needed Halloween costumes. So at 3:30 we picked up Ewa and went to Goodwill. We ran around, found what we needed and then ran to Walmart. We left there about 5. I ate dinner and changed in about 20 minutes! Then I went to work. I ended up working double shift because I had to change my shift for the Relief Society activity. We didn't get much done at work because funny things kept happening. But it was a fun night!

Friday, was actually pretty uneventful! I woke up and got all dressed up as an indian. (This is a big thing. I haven't dressed up since 8th grade!). Then I went to classes. We had forum which was awesome! I love forum! The speaker was a man named Mark Gottfredson, He owns a business and talked about how to become a better leader.
After my class, Ewa, Elizabeth and I went and drove the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was freezing! But so pretty! There were a lot of trees full of color, and a lot that had no leaves at all anymore. Nonetheless it was beautiful. We took all our pictures still dressed up for Halloween, so enjoy the pictures!

I was a big fan of these!

That night we went to the Halloween "carnival". We went late and it was pretty much over when Ewa and I got there. We stayed to watch The Addams Family, which they were showing in the SAC. I had never seen it before, and it was actually really good! I then came back to my room and vacuumed :). I also read Harry Potter and then fell dead asleep!

Saturday, I finished cleaning, then I went to work. The first shift we all talked to about 6 people. No one was getting anything! So second shift, one of my team leaders got her husband to bring us a treat. We were finding all sorts of random ways to keep us entertained. After work I went to dinner, and then to my room. At 8 I went to my RA's room to start our Boy Meets World TV show marathon (started because of me!). I think we watched 5 or 6 episodes. (They are each 22 minutes or so.) My RA had made lots of treats and popcorn so it was great. I then came back home and was dead asleep...again!

Sunday I slept in and throughly enjoyed the extra hour I got! It was a wonderful fast and testimony meeting and both Anna and Ewa were one of many that got up to speak. That is one of the many things I love about being in a YSA ward. Testimony meetings with lots of eager people your age getting up to share their testimonies are really inspiring. We have been talking about Jeremiah in Sunday School which is really great and in Relief Society we had a wonderful lesson on patience.
We then had my second Relief Society activity. We combined with the men to pull of a break the fast. We made salad, rolls, and enchiladas. We planned for 100 people, and I swear we didn't have that many and we still didn't have quit enough food! I felt really really bad! I think the first people took a lot of enchiladas and that was the problem.

After church I came back and talked to family! I first FaceTimed my family at home, then talked to Leigh, then called Erica to tell her I will be in Utah for her wedding!!!! YAY!!! Im super excited! I finished that call at 7:58 and at 8 I ran down the hill to the church. We had the most amazing CES devotional by Brother Hallstrom! It was all about building a firm foundation on Christ. It was a perfectly timed, much needed lesson and reminder! It was amazing! We were given ice cream sandwiches which made me more cold but they were yummy! After that I came back to my room and just hung out :) It was pretty relaxing and boring! It was very nice!
